If you are taking on an apprentice this year you may be eligible for subsidies through Australian Apprenticeships - a federal government initiative.
By following their online process you can apply for the Priority Wage Subsidy, a wage subsidy for employers of Australian Apprentices training towards an occupation listed on the apprenticeships priority list.
You may be eligible to receive:
- 10% of your apprentices wages paid to you for the first 24 months (up to $1500 per quarter)
- 5% of your apprentices wages paid to you for the third 12 month period (up to $750 per quarter)
To be eligible to claim the Priority Wage Subsidy, an employer must:
- register and use Single Touch Payroll for wage reporting to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), unless the ATO has granted an exemption.
- provide accurate wage evidence and submit claims within 12 months of the effect date; and
- not be in receipt of the Disablity Australian Apprentice Wage Support subsidy or any other federal, state or territory government wage subsidy or equivalent
for the same Australian Apprentice
